Morand Lambla Award

The Polymer Processing Society (PPS) invites nominations for the 2025 Morand Lambla Award to honor an outstanding young researcher in the field of polymer processing. The late Professor Morand Lambla, Past President of the Society, was a pioneering figure in our field.  He helped develop and nurture many young researchers who have made major contributions to the field. 

This award aims to recognize and stimulate originality, high achievement, and potential for continuing creativity among young researchers in the science and technology of polymer processing-related areas. The nominee can come from academia, government, or industry and must be an active member of PPS at the time of nomination. The deadline for submission of complete nomination packages is midnight (GMT) on November 15, 2024. To be eligible, the nominees should be 45 or younger by December 31, 2024. The award consists of a framed certificate and a cash prize of US$3000. The award winner is required to attend the upcoming International Conference of PPS to receive the award and to present a plenary lecture.

The nomination package should include a nomination form (click here to download) filled out in English.  The package must also include (1) a two-page summary of the nominee’s key contributions, (2) a curriculum vitae, and (3) copies of the most significant publications, patents, or reports (up to a total of 5).  The package should include supporting letters from the nominator and two co-nominators, preferably from different geographical regions (Americas, Europe and Africa, Asia/Australasia). The letters should emphasize the achievements of the nominee and the potential for future development. Active participation in PPS or contributions to the profession at large should be emphasized. If patents or reports are used in the nomination process, their use and significance should be explained in the nomination letter. 

The winner will be announced by January 15, 2025The award winner is required to attend the upcoming International Conference of PPS to receive the award and to present a plenary lecture. The winner will also be expected to author a review paper covering the research accomplishments on a topic leading to his/her receipt of the Morand Lambla award to be published in the International Polymer Processing journal within one year after receiving the award.
