James L. White Innovation Award

The Polymer Processing Society (PPS) invites nominations for the 2025 James L. White Innovation Award to honor outstanding researcher(s) or inventor(s) from both academia and industry, either as individuals or as a group, in polymer processing and related fields. The award is for an innovative development in the field of polymer processing technologies with commercial impact. It aims to recognize originality, innovation, and creativity among researcher(s) or inventor(s) in the science and technology of processing of polymers and polymeric products. The nominee(s) may come from any part of the world but must be active PPS member (s) at the time of nomination. The nominee(s) may currently work in industry, governmental, or academic institutions or have retired. The award winners are required to attend the upcoming International Conference of PPS to receive the award and to present a plenary lecture.

The nomination form (click here to download) should be completed in English. The completed nomination package must also include the following documents – (a) a letter of nomination, (b) a two-page summary of the candidate(s)' key contributions, (c) a curriculum vitae, (d) copies of the most significant peer-reviewed publications, patents, or reports (up to a total of 5), and (e) evidence of technology transfer with supporting letters from the nominator and two (2) co-nominators. Letters from co-nominators representing various geographical regions are encouraged. If patents are used to support the application, the nominators are asked to comment on their use and significance. The deadline for submission of complete nomination packages is midnight (GMT) on November 15, 2024. The award includes a framed certificate and a cash prize of US$3000.

The award (individual or team) will be announced by January 15, 2025. The awardee(s) are required to attend the upcoming PPS International Conference to receive the award and to present a plenary lecture. The awardee(s) are expected to write a review paper covering the research accomplishments leading to the James L. White award for International Polymer Processing Journal within one year of receiving the award.
